If you’re not getting enough sleep, it turns out you could be more susceptible to the common cold.

A new study by a psychology professor at Carnegie Mellon University showed that people who sleep less than seven hours per night are more likely to get sick when exposed to the cold virus. In fact, the study showed that the sleep deprived among us are three to five times more likely to get sick!

In addition to amount of sleep, the study showed that those who have poor quality of sleep, tossing and turning at night, and waking up at intervals, are also more likely to catch the cold virus when they become exposed to it.

All of the data seems to point to a correlation between sleep and the immune system. And other studies before this one have also studied this relationship. So decrease your chances of getting that nasty winter cold by turning in early and getting some shut-eye!

Increase your “sleep efficiency,” or quality of sleep, by making sure that you have a comfortable mattress. Mattresses that are too hard for you, or old mattresses that sag in places, can cause aches and pains and disturb your rest.

Spring Air Debuts Ironman Mattress

Spring Air Mattress is targeting the more athletic consumer with their new Ironman Mattress Series. The mattress line will debut at the Winter Las Vegas Furniture Market in February 2009, and will deliver the type of support and recovery that athletes need.

The line was developed by T3 Athletic Recovery Products, a company that focuses on products that promote and enhance physical recovery after intense training.

The new Ironman mattress line is a tribute to the Ironman Triathlon, which is held in Hawaii each year. 2009 will celebrate the 30th year of the competition.

The Spring Air Mattress Company is also known for brands such as the Back Supporter Collection and the Four Seasons Collection.
